The secular eras
are characterized at their peak by military or economic conflicts. The
good of society is held high above any particular chap. These periods see
great things built. The hero's have tended in these periods to be father
figures, and women and children have been well-nurtured within the home.
The more maternal spiritual eras come as Americans begin to ask if materialism is all there is to life? Needs may be met and then some, but what of heaven and transcendence? Most of us over 20 today understand this type of era because we are just now at the end of one and its meaning is still fresh in our psyche. |
